As part of an innovation challenge responding to a real-world need presented by Israeli emergency response organization ZAKA, a winning team of students and engineers proposed a groundbreaking wearable solution: a smart “sleeve” for first responders. Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing gear, the sleeve enables users to activate body cameras and transmit critical data—without removing their gloves or using their hands.
This hands-free innovation could significantly improve situational awareness and safety in high-stakes environments. The winning team was celebrated at the closing ceremony alongside NRW State Secretary and Dr. Dan Shaham, founder of JADDE, who praised the concept as a promising leap forward in DisasterTech.
